Nico RolazTrimmerThe 2014 Optimist World Champion and U21 ILCA7 World Champion. Known throughout the team as the ‘Swiss Army Knife’ because he can do every role both on the boat and shoreside, Nicolas was one of the rising stars of the Swiss team in the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona. Nicolas Rolaz began sailing at the age of eight and says it’s the freedom of being on the water that first attracted him to the sport. All of Nicolas’ success almost passed him by. “I was about to quit sailing when I was 13, I just didn’t like it anymore,” he explained. “Thanks to my parents, who pushed me to continue in the sport, one year later I was crowned world champion. That’s why it means so much to be part of this team, it shows me that the hard work of the previous years paid off!” Nicolas added. Away from the water, Nicolas other interests include cycling, cars, coffee, wine and watches, he also jokes that he’d “Like to be able to grow a beard!”

Bryan MettrauxTrimmerBryan Mettraux has been on the water since he was one year old and has been regularly sailing ever since. Although Bryan has been a part of Alinghi since 2019, he first became known to the team at the age of 14 when he was invited on board the D35 to follow a training session. Bryan loved being on the water but was also interested in technical drawings and architecture and turned to an apprenticeship as a shipbuilder at Philippe Durr's shipyard. In parallel, he earned his spurs in preparing boats at the Centre d'Entraînement à la Régate (CER). What followed were successful seasons as bowman and sail trimmer for the Realteam and Tilt teams. Bryan won two Swiss Match Racing Championship titles, two wins at the D35 Trophy (2012 and 2015), a victory in the amateur ranking on the Tour de France à la voile (2012) and many more. Bryan has also been crowned the GC32 World Champion in both 2018 and 2019. Bryan has been lucky enough to sail with his brother and sisters professionally and says it’s one of his favourite things to have done, and away from working, he enjoys sports in general and astrophysics.

Jann ShupbachTrimmerJann Schüpbach is one of the emerging Swiss talents who has progressed through Alinghi’s youth pathway into the senior TUDOR Team Alinghi sailing squad for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup. Born on 4 December 2000 and from Thun, Switzerland, he grew up sailing on Lake Thun and represents the Thunersee Yachtclub and Regattaclub Oberhofen. Jann began sailing on his family’s small boat in the Swiss Alps before moving into the Optimist, where he achieved national and international podium finishes. He subsequently progressed through the 420 and 470 classes, including an Olympic campaigning phase, before increasingly concentrating on high-performance foiling. That move proved particularly successful. Schüpbach became an accomplished WASZP, International Moth and Persico 69F sailor, establishing himself in the new generation of Swiss foiling specialists. Among his most significant achievements was finishing top of the overall 69F season ranking in 2023; he had also won the 69F Bacardi Cup in Miami in 2022 and subsequently recorded podium finishes at major 69F events.
His America’s Cup breakthrough came when he was selected for the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Youth Team for the 2024 UniCredit Youth America’s Cup in Barcelona. The team subsequently appointed the then 23-year-old as skipper, sharing helming duties with Arnaud Grange. Switzerland ultimately finished sixth in its qualifying group, but Schüpbach's campaign provided extensive experience racing the foiling AC40 and working inside a full-scale America’s Cup operation. Importantly, his development was not confined to sailing. During the Barcelona campaign he worked within Alinghi's electronics department, gaining practical experience with the technology, data and preparation behind the AC75 programme. He even interrupted his law studies to take advantage of the opportunity.
Following Barcelona, Schüpbach continued competing extensively in the International Moth, including World Championships in Manly and Lake Garda. His progression was rewarded in August 2026, when TUDOR Team Alinghi confirmed that he had stepped up from the youth pathway into its senior America’s Cup team for the Naples 2027 campaign.
